The Canary Islands

The Fortunate Islands - or the Isles of the Blessed - because it was here, according to ancient myth, that favoured mortals were received into blissful paradise by the gods.

Fuerteventura is the largest of the Canaries and there are breathtaking landscapes such as Mount Tindaya, claimed by local people to have magical powers. Along the coast are small traditional villages with wonderful examples of the island's architecture. Away from its stunning beaches, 150 in all with fine white sand, there are 13 protected areas on the island, with exotic flora such as palm trees, tamarisks and aloe vera. Windsurfing is the main sport on Fuerteventura and Jandia beach has hosted several world championships. Or, for the more adventurous, there is scuba diving and big game fishing where the clear Atlantic waters are home to whales, dolphins, marlin and turtles.

Fuerteventura is on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico and the temperatures rarely fall below 18 degrees centigrade or rise above 24 degrees. For more information visit www.fuerteventuraturismo.com.

Bahia Azul is a unique development of Moorish design Villas set within a private gated community in the exclusive area of Corralejo, in the north of the island. This is without doubt, one of the finest areas on the island to own a property, whether you are looking for a holiday home, a permanent residence or an excellent investment.
