Cape Verde

Also known as Cabo Verde is a collection of islands in the Atlantic Ocean, 385 miles (620km) west of Senegal, West Africa. Its official name is The Republic of Cape Verde and covers 4030 sq. kms. The islands are blessed with beautiful beaches, scenery and a climate reminiscent of the Caribbean.

Tours to observe nesting loggerhead turtles Caretta caretta in Cape Verde have been conducted since 1998.

Cape Verde is just five and a half hours flying time from the U.K; currently all air traffic arrives at Sal Island. An international airport is being built at Praia, the capital, on Santiago Island, that can accommodate Boeing 737s and 757s to cater for direct flights.

Plans are also in progress to build marinas alongside villa complexes offering a mooring with each sale. All this in a tropical climate for far less than the caribbean.
